L'Académie française at night
Shot from the Pont des Arts. My UK friends usually get a bit upset with this building as the Académie française create new “French” words to be used in favour of words imported from abroad. “Email” became “courriel,” the “weekend” became “fin de la semaine,” etc and my friends do see a language as a natural process that doesn’t need intervention from a government body. There is indeed nothing similar for the English language and that maybe explains why you can never know how to pronounce a word when you see it written down in English. I do lean towards the English approach to language, yet I see the daily onslaught of Americanisms on the languages I speak and, funnily enough, even the British complain about these language imports impoverishing their language and they should worry about this as UK English is very much under threat.
The Pont des Arts is a wooden bridge and very busy at any time of the day which makes long exposures a bit tricky as the tripod and everything will move if somebody walks by.
