Migawara-saru

MIGAWARI-SARU
These are rather stylized “MIGAWARI-SARU.” I noticed them at the entrance of Temple #16 (Saikoji Temple) in Chichibu but you can hang them at the entrance of your home too.
SARU means monkey and MIGAWARI means substituted or dummy. When hung from the ceiling at the entrance, in Japan the believe is that the monkeys will take care of any evil.
