Tōgō Jinja, Harajuku

TScan-120712-0013

This shrine enshrines Tōgō Heihachirō, an admiral during WWII and is dedicated to the Kamikaze pilots at the same time. These pilots, as many of the Japanese soldiers, were of course the victims of a fascist government and left little choice by the combined forces of peer pressure from family and neighbors and the omnipresent Kempeitai.
