Born
in Holland, but having lived abroad now for more than 25 years, Hans ter Horst is currently based in London while having also lived in
Stockholm and Paris for extensive periods.
Equipment: Working evenings at a big super market while he should have been
studying for his final high school examinations, Hans managed to earn enough money to buy a Pentax ME which
had been released the year before in 1976; the small size and groundbreaking
features for an entry-level camera: easy manual focus and Aperture priority mode appealed to him.
In later years, Hans followed that camera up with a Pentax MZ-3, Pentax MZ-S and a Pentax K20D.
Process: Hans uses Ilford FP4+ and
Ilford HP5+ films which are scanned in via a Nikon Coolscan negative scanner
which gives him the natural grain that starts to be so much appreciated these
days now that
DSLRs start to reach image perfection. Final processing is done in Adobe
Lightroom 2.3.
